whiting family lincolnshire
« on: Monday 19 May 25 19:44 BST (UK) »
Is anyone searching for the Whiting family, father Joshua born 1834 in Benington, Lincs who married Sarah Pinchbeck 1854.  My interest is with daughter Alice born 1867 in Louth or Hagworthingham.  She says born in Hag on the 1891 census when married to my grandfather Horace Taylor Rosher living in Suffolk.  No marriage cert can I find. Also known as Halles on earlier census.

It would help if someone has this family interest.  Many thanks.
Denzil

Birthyears on census entries are “out”

1901 - Horace is shown as 31 b Creeting Suffolk

1871 & 1881 - b 1864

1901 Alice is 29 - b 1872

See this link if you have Ancestry access - he was a bigamist & thief.  Married Elizabeth Eliza Smith in 1906 then Amy Beatrice Julia Rose in 1915 as Harry T Rosher

K Garrard.
Many thanks for the baptism details - I did not have them.
By the way I see Crocker is an interest for you.  I am in North Dorset and have a Crocker family living here and have been for years.  Is this any help?  Regards.

My paternal grandmother was a Crocker.
But her family were in Somerset (Bath, Shepton Montague, Crewkerne) back to 1759.

My paternal family of Garrad were in north Dorset, though!
Great Grandfather Abraham Garrad (1843-1897) was Station Master at Shillingstone (or Shilling Okeford as it used to be called) and my grandfather, Arthur James Garrad (1876-1940) was born at Shillingstone.

Just a quick note on Shillingstone station.  As you probably know the line was close d in the sixties but a lot of enthusiasts are working on the station premises to bring it either up to date or to look as it was years ago.  They are doing a good job.  Very little track available at present but they are hoping to buy more in the future.  Well worth a visit on Wednesdays or weekends best.
