Ann Raynes died West Stockwith 1840
« on: Friday 16 May 25 14:51 BST (UK) »
Hi
I’m trying to find more information about the above person, she died 3 March 1840 aged 67 West stockwith.  I got the £3.00 death document, it says she was a housekeeper, died from typhus fever, and informant was Wm Watton occupier?

On the North Wall of the nave is a memorial tablet to Ann Raines who died (info as above).

I have a Jeremiah Raynes who was born in Barlow Derbyshire 1783 and died 1855 West Stockwith he was the Schoolmaster.

Jeremiah has 2 sisters one named Ann b1780 Barlow possible death 1842? Barlow
Also Hannah Raynes b 1773 Barlow possible death 1819? Barlow
The information I found about his sisters was when I visited Derbyshire Records Office easrlier this year, they are all named in their fathers (James Raynes) Will.

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Christine

There is a William Walton age 70 occ Farmer in West Stockwith in 1841, possibly her employer - He does have a housekeeper in 1841  :)

ADDED Newspaper obit for Ann says she was a housekeeper for William Walton for many years.

Hiya Rosie

Thank you for your reply, I have checked out the 1741 census for Willian Walton, and found out he died in 1844, and there was a will leaving what looks like £400 to Ann Raines his friend and housekeeper.

I also wonder how come she got a plaque in the church?

Ann was 67 years old in 1840 so born circa 1773.

ADDED
She was buried 6 March 1840 at All Souls, Misterton

UPDATE
The image on ancestry has Burials at Misterton with a notation under her entry stating at Stockwith Chapel.
