Looking for the origins of Sarah Coates, born circa 1870, married Thomas McBride at St. Patricks, Portaferry in 1888, buried Ballyphilip Parish Church 1935

You forgot to say what her father's name is on the marriage cert

It this is the correct Sarah McBride then she was born earlier than you indicated which may explain why I couldn't find a birth registration.

Just to be aware (from a subscription website) that what looks like the same Sarah Coates was the subject in an adult baptism in Ballyphilip RC Parish on the day of her marriage.  I say "what looks like the same", for the address given was Portaferry, the date was 22 August 1888 and the sponsor was named as Sarah McBride (the witness to the marriage?). So maybe a conversion?

Added: that would explain the reversion to Church of Ireland as a widow in the 1911 Ireland census.

I believe Sarah was originally Church of Ireland and turned when she married Thomas McBride, she reverted to Church of Ireland upon the death of Thomas and is buried in Ballyphilip C of I churchyard. I have no record of her birth or christening but believe her Father was Henry Coates and that she had a Sister Jane Ellen.
