Alfred Parker b. 1898 Barnsley
« on: Saturday 10 May 25 10:32 BST (UK) »
Posting in the hope someone else may be able to help me find out more about Alfred.

I can find Alfred Parker at 3 Violet Street, Halifax in the 1939 Register, which gives his date of birth as 2 Oct 1898. I can find him in the 1921 census returns which give his address as Whitehall Yard, Hipperholme (between Halifax and Brighouse) and his place of birth as Barnsley (as do his UK military records). And I can find his marriage record - he married Marie Edith Isabella Bellinger in Lightcliffe (also between Halifax and Brighouse) in 1918. Both his marriage record and his military records have his father’s name as John Parker. But despite knowing his date and place of birth and his father’s name I can’t find Alfred in the 1901 or 1911 census, I can’t find his birth record or any baptism record and I can’t discover who his mother was.

Any and all help tracking Alfred and his parents down would be most gratefully received.

Yes, but unfortunately when it comes to the censuses he’s at none of the addresses on any of the records I can find, nor for that matter are any other Parkers. He almost seems to appear out of nowhere when he is invalided out of the Reserve Labour Corps in 1917 due to eyesight issues.

If I am looking at the right service records there is an address in 1917 of 6 Brook Foot Lane which appears to be Southowram.  1911 is giving Brook Foot as Elland Road, Southowram.
