France/Huguenot

I'm hoping someone may know where to find records of my Delahide family leaving France [ pos Nord pas DeCalais ] to Ireland my Great Grandmother born in Limerick Ireland 1859, her father was Patrick Delahide born in Clare Ireland 1826 and I believe his father was also Patrick, not sure if he was born in France or Ireland. I'm not sure of the dates  of Huguenots. Please note I have all on my family in Ireland. I just need a answer from France to Ireland or any thing from France.

The Huguenot emigration wave was mostly at the end of the 1600s post the  Revocation of the Edict of Nantes, so if the name was Huguenot your family would have come to Ireland many generations back.

Can't see any naturalised Delahide or Delahyde families in Naturalisation records for Huguenots in Britain and Ireland.  The surname was in England in 11th Century so if there is a French connection it is more likely a Norman connection? Name definitely in Ireland in 1500s.

Will be difficult to find records from 1000 years ago!

There are Delahydes in Co. Limerick in the 1901 census but all are Catholic.
All of my Huguenot ancestors (who left France around the time of the Edict of Nantes) remained Protestant for many generations. Even if you find an ancestor who left Frances at that time there might not be any official records. One of mine was smuggled out of France in a wine cask but returned to bring his wife back to England although they had to leave their eldest son behind. Luckily stories were written down a number of years later.

I quickly googled that name and a few pdf documents came up so it looks like a Delahoyde family came over to Cork in 1690s.  However there are other Delahide families so might need a bit of digging around to find the links.

Thanks all, of course Protestant's that maybe clears that one for me as mine were Catholic's but who's to say they changed to fit in. Oh well maybe back on the too hard shelf again.
