Have to repeat - "if it works don't fix it".

What is wrong with a lengthy URL if it does the biz? After all, it's not that I have to copy it into my notebook manually any more and type it out again - which was the case until quite recently. Part of my progress into the 19th Century!!

personally I prefer to remove the ref= or ? and everything after it as otherwise a URL can be excessively long and there's no telling what tracking info it contains. You can always check the revised link works.

The only useful part of what it chopped off here is probably the highlighting of keywords. After a bit of trial and error, your first link can be reduced to
