Good Afternoon
Let's start with that marriage. In 1690 She is of St Thomas Oxford and John is of St Michael.
They seem to buried at St Michael even though their children are baptised at St Thomas ,presumably to be convieninet for her parents.
John Gadney pipe maker Nov 1723 (before the 12th ,the spine is too tight to see) pipemaker aged 54 years. So born 1669
Jane widow 23 Oct 1727 bedmaker at Exeter College buried aged 56 years so born 1671.
There is a possible last child for the couple at St Michaels
Jean d of John and Jean pipemaker 9th March 1715.(So Jane would be 44 ).
Now to the possible parents.Only one male Gadney married at St Michaels around the right time.
Robert Gadney 17th Feb 1666 to Amy Smith.
There seems to be a son Robert at St Mary Mad. 5.11.1667 s of Robert pipemaker.
Robert Senior is buried at St Michael 5th June 1698.He died the day before. There is an Admin 1700 but it doesn't help.It just says late of the City of Oxford.
But the fact that John and Jane did have a son Robert and Robert Senior was a pipemaker would fit nicely.
The Freeman records of apprenticeship give us the following
Robert Gadney 1687 apprentice of Robert Gadney tobacco pipe maker
John Gadney 1690 apprenticeship of Robert Gadney tobacco pipe maker.
So his 2 sons perhaps. They would both be 21.
Jane I would guess was the daughter of John Stevens of St Thomas with either his wife Jane or Mary.
John bapt 21.10.1667 with wife Jane and Mary 16.10.1670 with a wife Mary.
Richard seems to be more likely on that side of the family.
The other Gadneys at the time pipemaker is Thomas and his wife Katherine.
Children at St Thomas's- Elizabeth 24.3.1699 ,Thomas 18.12.1701 ,Thomas 15.2.1702,and John 12.12.1704.In the Wills for them is a daughter Katherine.
Thomas's Will 1714 and Katherine's 1727.(7.6.1727)
She mentions an Uncle John Gadney yeoman of Wytham as one of her executors.
Could Thomas be John's other brother?
