Hello all,
would prison records give the names of parents, and what crime was committed?
Is there any special place to access these records?
Thanks

You could try searching this Galloway archive catalogue link below
Put the word 'prison' in the key word box
https://archives.dumgal.gov.uk/calmview/
and Wigtownshire Archive catalogue link
https://www.gwsfhs.org.uk/region/wigtownshire/
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

You make no mention of date, or even which century.
I would think the offence would be recorded. Unlikely to mention parents.
have you searched here?

But if there are records, I think the National records of Scotland would hold them.

Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)

Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)
