Longford Duffys
« on: Saturday 03 May 25 21:40 BST (UK) »
From browsing, I realize that there are ALOT of Duffys in Longford. I'm trying to track down more about my Maternal grandfathers family. His name was John Duffy. Born in Longford around March 7th 1922. Died in Limerick March 24th 1983. He was married to Mary (Nancy) Hehir in Ballynanty, Limerick. Ancestry is giving me results of his parents being a Patrick Duffy (Derreenavoggy, Gránard)  married to a Ellen Doherty (Aughnacliffe (Molly), Gránard). Any and all information would be appriciated. He died before I was born. I hear that he was an amazing man. He was a solider based in the Limerick Sarsfield barracks and met my grandmother there and had 9 children. When he left the army, he was a barber and drove taxis I believe. Even if you guys could lead me in a direction of facebook groups or where to be searching for records. Thank you!

We don’t use Ancestry much for Irish records so could you explain what you mean by Ancestry is telling you particularly in regard to his mother’s name.

Several sites are useful but Irish Genealogy is a good starting point. https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/

The marriage 1949

If the mother’s name you have is correct
The birth 1920

Possible marriage 1906

If this was the correct marriage, then John's elder siblings-
Bridget Kate 1907, James 1908, Thomas 1910, Patrick 1913, Philip 1915, Ellen Mary 1918.
