Name deciphering for 1661 burial help please.
« on: Wednesday 30 April 25 09:23 BST (UK) »
Good morning,

I'm hoping someone with better eyes than me can help decipher the October 24 1661 entry (it's on the right side of the page, so you might need to scroll right depending on how this uploads).

I have an ancestors surnamed Man/Mann and I wonder if this could be them. I'd be very grateful to know what Mary's father's name is, I can't make it out.

Thank you very much!

Agree with JenB. If you look carefully at the surname there is a dot  which rather than being directly above the i in Main, is off to the right. - as it is in many instances of the letter  i on that page.

Thank you both for your expert eyes, I would never have guessed Arminger in a million years. And yes, that's a Main, isn't it? So sadly not my lot. What a shame, thought I'd made a breakthrough! I'll do a little research if these Mains became Man later on just in case.

Thank you again!

Is Armiger here the Latin translation of Squire?
Mead - Herts, Bucks, Essex
Pontifex - Bucks
Goldhurst - London, Middx, Herts
Kellogg/Kelhog - Essex, Cambs

Vance Mead - I had to google that, how intriguing! It makes it even less likely it's my lot though, I think we're Ag Lab to the end
