www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Birth is on above site but as John William Inglis.  16.8.1702

Another birth as John Ingles 16.1.1713 to same parents

There is also a 1717 birth to same parents for a John Inglis 11.9.1717 which usually suggests the previous John's have died

Marriage of parents is on same site 12.9.1701

Have you checked for a birth or death for her on SP?  Possibility in 1677

Are you certain your John Inglis is the one b 1702?  Why would the parents name all 3 sons John if the first 2 were still living?

All of that info was already in my first reply.  My question was - which John Inglis is yours as all 3 have the same parents??

It wasn’t unusual in those days to give the name of a deceased child to a later child.  Your opening post suggests your interest is the 1702 birth??  If so - he was John William not just John.

What documentary evidence - apart from the transcript - links your John Inglis to the the 1702 birth?

As I commented above - why name all 3 sons John?   It’s likely the 1702 birth died before 1713 & the 1713 birth died before 1717

Have you looked on Scotlands People?
