Quite :-\  I can't see him.  Do we have Hannah in 1891 with Joseph, perhaps he was still with her.

Joseph was 'boarding' with Eliza Shiple and family in 1891, as Joseph Briars - claiming to be widowed.

Yes, I have that, but, following John Chambers death in 1874, she remarried in St Mary, Hull on the 19th July 1876, as Margaret Chambers to a John Barnett.
She confirmed that she was widowed and gave her father's name as Matthew McPherson, (deceased) a former labourer.

It is definitely her, as she appears on the 1881 census as Margaret Barnett - year of birth c1825, place of birth, Scotland.
She died during the September quarter of 1888; aged 62 years.

The whole family are a mystery!!

Boiler Maker, Father a Solicitor.

Was he a Freemason? There was a Meeting at Hull in 1889.

Hull Daily Mail, 24th July 1889

PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF FREEMASONS AT HULL.

 ... ; George Chambers, P.G.P. ; ...

P. G. P.
Provincial Grand Pursuivant

A George Chambers 1891 +/- 10 years search of the Freemasons records, a few appear for England, but as soon as you enter Hull, they disappear.

Birth year 1856. Years 1887 - 1909, in 1893 Tristram Lodge Shildon, Durham, Residence Haghinton, but he was a Butler.

One at Scarborough, no date of Birth, Date of Initiation 1878, probably the one at the Hull Meeting?

There are other Freemasons.

 ---------------

Of course a Boiler Maker, might get a job on ship or vessel as an Engineer? Sculcoates and the Port of Hull nearby.

Mark

There's a George age 42 who died in Hull Mar 1901 which would fit wife Jane's census entry status

His burial, which was on 26 January, is on FamilySearch.
Died 22 January of a strangulated hernia :(
