Gerrard Family - West Bromwich

In 1888 Francis Gerrard married Christiana Cooper. (b 1866)
The 1911 census, (15 Poplar Ave, West Brom), records that they had ten children, two of which died.

I found nine children, Francis Joseph 1888, Frederick James 1890, Ethel 1892, Florence 1894, Arthur 1897, Bessie 1899, Edward 1900, Charles 1900 - died 1903, and Alice Edith 1904 - died 1904.
All were recorded in the GRO except Ethel who I found in FreeReg.

Can anyone see the tenth child?

1902 could squeeze another one in but if you have found the two who died he or she should be on a census in 1911.

Charles in West Brom 1902 has MMN Cooper but you already have a Charles born 1900 alive then

How many have you got on each census from 1891 to 1911 - any names not on your birth list?

1901 has an Albert age 9

Francis Joseph b 1888 does not appear in 1891/1901 with parents.  He is with grandparents Joseph & Emily Cooper including 1911 census

I notice the parents were in Wiltshire in 1891 - perhaps they returned hence Albert’s birth

I think you are correct with Albert. Highworth threw me until I realised it is very close to Swindon where the family were living in 1891.
Sorry about Charles ... should have read 1902 .. died 1903.

Francis Joseph Gerrard (1888) is my Grandfather. My first reaction to the fact that he was living with Christiana's parents in every census till he married was that his "father" Francis (1865) was not his real father as Christiana was pregnant when they married ... but then why name him Francis Joseph.

Albert resurfaced in 1921 living in Croydon with his wife Florence (née Oldroyd) and his son Albert Raymond.
