William DANIELS (1817-?)

William DANIELS was born 02 Aug 1817 at Southgate and was baptised on 15 Mar 1818 at All Saints in Edmonton. His father was William DANIELS, a labourer, and his mother was Rebecca HOBBS. He was the couple's second child and second son.

There is no reliable record that I can find for William post his baptism. I suspect he died young, but I can't find a burial record.

It would be nice to know what happended to him.

He doesn't appear with the family in the 1841 census. Neither does his elder brother John (b 1815), who I believe was doing military service in India. His sister Esther (b 1818) is with the family. I assume that William is either dead or left home, but can prove neither option.

That marriage has him as a Widower of full age with father William Daniels (Dead).  He can be found in 1841 Woolwich age 28 bn in County occ Licensed Victualler.

The father of my William, also William DANIELS, was very much alive in 1839. He died on Christmas Day, 1876.

There's a William 28 father William who marries in Norfolk in 1845.

Residence at time of marriage looks like Sergeants Inn Fleet St London

Bride is Temperance Watson who is married in 1851 (husband not with her) widowed in 1861

Add in 1851 is 8 Sergeants Inn - is it Inn?  It seems to be a street called that rather than a public house

Interesting. I don't suppose that the marriage register names the witnesses, just in case they were relatives.

When this William married in 1845 his occupation was "Counsel's Clerk"

Believe this is him in 1851 aged 32, married, born Cromwell, Middsx--occupation Barrister's Clerk

Witnesses were John S Turner & Martha Watkins I think - copy of marriage certificate online

No occupation given for either of the fathers

Believe it says widower? for William but bit unclear

There is an 11 year old William Frederick Daniels son with Temperance in 1851 so he could have been from a previous marriage
