Seems his parents died within a few weeks of each other. They are on the same probate record, Charles death is 1st Aug 1974. Probate 5th September 1974, Bristol.  Not sure if there is a will for Charles that may give more info on son. 1939 for couple has a redacted entry that is likely John.
