Identification of an Irish place name
« on: Monday 21 April 25 19:07 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can make out where this birth took place? This is from the 1921 census but the birth happened in 1847 - which may be relevant when looking at place names
I have posted already on another board asking for help with this document so I don't want waste anyone's time searching for information about the person - this is just to decipher what they place name might be.
Thank you

Not sure why you thought you needed to start a new topic since you've gotten lots of replies on the LEITRIM board-

Hi Aghadowey Thanks for your reply.  You are right,  my post on the Leitrim board has had some very helpful replies. I have very little knowledge of Ireland so am really grateful for all help.
I have realised though that the title of my original post didn't suggest that it was the handwriting which was my stumbling block. So, maybe those who are really experts on the Handwriting board would not have been drawn to look at the post.

I think it is good that you've brought the handwriting to this board.  I read the name of the person as being written by someone with a left hand....

Are you able to put a bigger extract up please?

Here is a larger extract of the census. The faulty pen doesn't help!
