Hi Wilcoxon, just to mention, I'm not really chasing the Scott line as they are not mine (actually my husband's) blood line.  I was only providing the info I had (or found) as Mary Scott married William Forsyth Anderson, who was a younger brother to my husband's 2 GGF James Anderson 1851-1924.  I won't be spending any more money/credits on the Scott family.

Thanks so much for contributing so far though.  Everyone is spending a lot of time and effort on this quest.  Maybe I should start a new thread on the Nephew of Jessie Sugden (nee Anderson) James Anderson Young who I'd be very interested to know more about.

Good idea, and don't forget to add COMPLETED or ✅ to this thread (edited) and add a link of this thread to the new thread.

Re: Who is the Nephew of Jessie Sugden nee Anderson? - Update
« Reply #87 on: Thursday 31 July 25 14:05 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I just wanted to provide a brief update.

It would appear that back in 2018 someone had messaged me on Ancestry (I won't give their name) and they were interested in the Anderson Family at 49 Falcon Gardens, Morningside.  I really didn't have much context then and although we corresponded, my ill health at that time and then the Covid Pandemic got in the way and it was never followed up on by me.

The reason I've recently focused on this family is that an organisation called the 'Friends of the Pentlands' have approached us. They have plans for a memorial stone to William Forysth Anderson.  He wrote a book on walks in the Pentland Hills and it was published after his death in 1926.  That has me working on this family again.  William would be my husbands 2nd GG Uncle.

We live close to the Pentland Hills and family members are constantly walking there, so this connection is close to our hearts.

Anyway, I've had this niggle in the back of my mind that someone had been in touch and I eventually tracked down the conversation and have been in touch with that individual.  They are a child of James Anderson Young (b.1915 Ontario), who was the child of Margaret Anderson and John (Walter) Young/Jeans, discussed here previously.

Its very early days in our correspondence and they have provided some further information.  It would appear that Young/Jeans abandoned his son, which seems to be a bit of a habit of his.  James was then 'adopted' by an Anderson family member.  I'll not go into any detail here as I feel its a bit of a delicate situation.

I just wanted to thank all of those who took the time to contribute or even to view this post.  You are all just so generous with your time and manage to find lots of information from resources I didn't know existed.

Best wishes, Kit
