lost family
« on: Monday 14 April 25 17:56 BST (UK) »
I have a family on the 1851 census John Newton born 1803 Lincoln, Lincolnshire.  He marries Ann Mills, she dies in 1843.  They have four children.  John Newton born 1828 in Lincoln.  Occ Publican and then a boat owner
John Newton
1828–

William Newton
1833–

George Newton
1839–1910

Charlotte Newton
Charlotte Newton
1843–1843

He then marries Mary Wilkinson  in 1844, nee Cooke. Born Washingborough 1805.
She has 3 daughters previously :
Rebecca Cook    Marries John Newton junior born 1828.  Father William Cook.
1829–

Ann Cook  Father William Cook Carpenter/Wheelwright
1835–

Elizabeth Cooke 💖 Father William Cook  dies 1843
1839–1899  Marries George William Thorpe Nottingham.

I cannot find the family after 1851
John Newton senior I believe died 1853 and Mary Newton nee Wilkinson, Cook 1856.

No Ann Cook after 1851
No John Newton B 1828 after 1851  Mariner/waterman
No Rebecca Newton after 1851
No William Newton b 1833 after 1841

Mary and John Newton had a daughter Mary Newton b 1845 D 1846
Another daughter Mary Sarah b 1846 cannot find after 1851

Hope this is not too confusing but I have searched all web sites and newspapers and cannot find this family at all.

Thanks
Sue

1853 death looks to be right for John - aged 50.  Born St Lurthans according to 1851 entry

Mary was b Heighington not Washinborough  according to the 1851.  Can’t see an 1856 death

Have you ruled out that Mary could have remarried?  She was only 48 when John died.  There are 3 marriages in the Lincoln RD - 1854/56/57

Sorry death 1851 but it is the right age for Mary Newton but says John Newton was a boat owner.  I believe this is him as I found a court case about a John Newton saying he was a Boat Owner, they lived on at Waterside North in St Swithin, Lincoln.  Also Mary was born in Heighington but I believe it also comes under Washinborough.  Tried to attach death but too large

Yes I have looked at those but her daughter would have been with her and I cannot find her in 1861 census so think she must have died.  I cannot attach the death I have in 1851, too large
