Dandelions - I use a spoonful of salt, into the centre of the plant.

AND I agree, there appears to be many more this year than in previous years.  So beware of wetting the bed.  :o

I'm thinking of cutting the leaves off and making Dandelion Tea?

My Grandfather, went blind long before retirement age and had to learn braille to be able to read and he turned to a drug / vaccine free lifestyle, natural plants including Dandelion, fruit, veg and had lean meat or fish, each day, and got his sight back in one eye, sufficient enough that he got his Driving Licence back!

"The European Society of Cardiology recommends the consumption of a varied diet rich in fruits, vegetables, or medicinal plants, which are sources of natural compounds with antiplatelet, anticoagulant, or antioxidant activity. Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is also a good source of secondary metabolites, such as phenolic compounds. The chemical content of dandelion has been detailed in a recent review, together with its varied antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic, and diuretic properties [12,13,14,15,16]. However, no paper has yet reviewed the prophylactic and therapeutic potential of dandelion and its bioactive components against CVDs, and their effects on the cardiovascular system in general."

Harking back a bit on this thread, I remember the local Good Friday "Walks" - in our hilly area quite a hilly trek, different chapel/church etc groups after a brief service in hiking gear at their own church / chapel setting off,  joining in along the route until we all arrived at the chosen place for the afternoon of games, a short service and down to the valley for home.
-Not the same as the very public, high profile, dressed up "Whit walk" processions, at all.

I am feeling feeling very sad to be honest, I am at my daughter's dog sitting till the dog minder comes back for the night, he didn't greet me at the door and stayed asleep,  he also seems very nervous of   me which is unusual, i   know I haven't  seen him for sometimes I thought he would recognise  me by my voice,  I think he is losing  his eyesight , can hardly get down the patio steps, I think my daughter has a difficult decision  to make soon but she is hoping my grandson will be home from Australia in May.

Well the sun has come out really strongly this afternoon and windy, a lovely washing day but I can't put any put as we have a painter at home rubbing down paint.

Hope everyone is enjoying  their weekend, thankfully I am only travelling  locally.

Take care

How we looked forward to the Whit Walks, as it was the only time on the year that we got a new set of clothes!

Just made lots of Easter nests for tomorrow with rice crispies, melted chocolate and mini eggs on top.  Is it my imagination or have the mini eggs just got even smaller?

When in rural Shropshire ,I remember something like “ beating the bounds”
I think it was to define and to remember the Parish boundaries.
We all went and yes gates and fences were beaten

The Manchester Whit Walks were enormous ,thousands  of Sunday School children walked behind their church banners which depicted the saint after
whom the church was named.
Girls all in white with little posies, boys in their new clothes
Our’ s was St.Philip.
Parish walks on Whit Sunday then on Whit Monday to Albert Square, each year on a rota system some churches went into the Cathedral.

Our  church always had the same brass band ,Culcheth Prize Military Band ,
Otherwise known as “ The Tall Hat  Band” as their second uniform was black tail cost and top hat.My grandfather played the flute in it.
They were always in demand .
The Roman Catholic community walked on Trinity Sunday and Whit
Friday  .
They were joined by the large Italian community and the Polish and Ukrainian
Communities ,all wearing national dress.
It was lovely to see .
The Madonna was safely kept for the rest of the year in John Pesagno’s ice cream factory .
For the walks it was covered in hundreds of Madonna lilies , carried by the Italian men ,jokingly known as The Manchester  mafia!
A really lovely sight.

Whit week was really special ,new clothes ,a long white dress for” the walks” .
The procession through Manchester too two hours to pass.
We really looked forward to it all.
It was like a reward for regular Sunday School attendance.

Oh happy days.
Long gone now sadly.
Viktoria.
