Scottish records - am I missing something?

I have found newspaper reports of the death by accidental drowning of James Campbell of Killin. James was 12 and he died on March 29 1894. I've tried every combination I can manage on Scotland's People to find a certified death but with no results. Any ideas on where to find it?

Not much help, but I have also failed. I believe that I have found his parents’ marriage in 1866, Peter Campbell and Mary McMartin, and the births of their 9 children (all of this at Killin). But the death of James comes up blank for me too, no matter how much I broaden the search.

Hi, yes it looks like his age has been misindexed.

See James Campbell Aged 3, Killin, 1894

My comment is not directly related to this discussion.
The initial post refers to a newspaper article dated in the 1800's.
I want to find out if there were newspapers for Doune or Kilmadock dating to 1846.
How do I find this out and if there are newspapers, where can I find them on-line?

I have found  the British Newspaper Archive useful.  I see the modern newspaper for your search is "The Bridge" but I see from the search facility in the BNA that the Falkirk Herald includes news from your area of research,

I have been on the newspaper records site before.
I will take another look later, but today I only see 4 pages for Falkirk Herald, dated 1845.
I read 2 pages with my free access. Nothing pertaining to my research.
I appreciate your assistance.

Depending on the type of report, you may find that it can be found outside the local area as
they were often syndicated and used as fillers in other papers
For example:
For the reports that the OP posted about I used
Name: James Campbell
Keywords: drowned , Killin

and came up with with 4 relevant results in these newspapers

Dundee Evening Telegraph
Edinburgh Evening News
Pertshire Advertiser
Paisley Daily Express

Boo
