Marriage banns
« on: Saturday 12 April 25 14:23 BST (UK) »
My GG granddad appears as Edward Corkwell in Censuses through the 1800s but the only baptism I can find is of Edward Worthington Corkwell in December 1799, son of William Corkwell and wife Sarah nee Worthington.  I did come across marriage banns for this couple in 1798 but now can't find any trace of a marriage.  Would welcome any clues.

The marriage entry is available on Ancestry - surname written as Corkwell although he made his mark while Sarah signed, and William's surname transcribed as Cockwell.

So I agree with rosie99  :)

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thank you Rosie99 and BumbleB.  I'm not sure where and when Edward was born and his age differs on every census from 1841 to 1881.  However I do know Edward Worthington Corkwell was baptised on 10th December 1799.  The same spelling 'Cockwell' was transcribed from the 1861 census but a close examination of the actual scan shows it is in fact Corkwell.
