Hello no I have been unable to find a burial record for Elizabeth Herbert I have searched but found nothing.

I would welcome help with finding her burial record

Thanks
Elizlloyd

It does look as though it could say Tredegar on his burial but that would normally indicate where he was living at the time rather than a place of birth, unless of course Tredegar was the 'family seat'  ;D.

Do you have a burial for his wife Elizabeth  :-\

Reply #8 identifies a possibility for Caldicot Court. You can find the tithe commutation numbers listed here -
https://places.library.wales/search/51.592/-2.745/18.00?refine=&page=1&rows=100&sort=score&order=desc&query=lammocks

Click on "View Map" to scroll around area (the Castle is a good reference point) or "View Apportionments" as appropriate.

Thank you for your reply very much, yes this is Caldicot Court I appreciate you finding this article, in this newspaper. This is a breakthrough in my research in finding more on Caldicot Court and where it was. A very good find on your part.

The article makes for interesting reading on Caldicit Court it gives plenty of information on what is being sold, and where it is located. I would not have found this article without your help thanks and good it shows where it was located.

It is good to read the description of where Caldicot Court was, which I am thrilled about as I have looked for it for so long.  I will try and find Caldicot Court on a map with these details thanks very much.

Thanks

Elizlloyd

Herbert and William Herbert are in documents to do with Herefordshire as William Herbert married Henry Scudamore daughter Winifred Scudamore they lived at Caldicott Court in Caldicott I would like to know where that is.

See column 4 - possibility?

This map shows "Court House" in the location of the Tithe map buildings 176 and 177 and how it appears in "modern" Caldicot.

Thanks for sharing this link that brings up these two maps, good to see Court House which was once Caldicot Court now known as Court House in Caldicot, good this building is still there and so close to beautiful Caldicot Castle. Thanks for your help.

Thanks

When I posted the "side by side" maps I assumed that the new estate had seen the old properties demolished. However, driving around Castle Lea on Streetview, 2 old properties can be partly seen surrounded by the new.
They don't match the shape of the buildings on the old maps but are certainly in the right spot if you place the cursor over the main building on the old map. But the most recent "old map" (1954) shows changes to the main building.

Thanks yes when I saw the two maps side by side I was surprised to see those two buildings still there in the middle the new estate.

I have just looked at this building on  the old 1954  map and yes it looks like an original building even though it has had an addition added to the property  It is where Vere Herbert and his family lived in 1707 to when he passed away 1727.  If I am right in thinking, that it is good this building is still there and the other old building too  maybe they are both protected properties.  Thanks for your help.

Thanks

Elizlloyd.
