Divorce in 1954
« on: Saturday 12 April 25 08:13 BST (UK) »
Hi, can someone point me in the right direction please. I am trying to find out if a lady that was divorced in 1954, if there is any information as to who the other lady was that caused the divorce.
It was possible that she might have been pregnant so i would like to see if its true.

Regards Tim

By 1954 divorce was commonplace so unless there was a real scandal you are unlikely to find an article in a newspaper.

However, you may find a birth but you would need to know where the birth took place unless you are looking at a very unusual surname.

Hi bearkat,
There was an article in the newspaper, but no name mentioned. I was after possible divorce papers that might mention names,

Thanks Tim

The National Archives holds some divorce records but they tend to be older.

Case papers for divorces after 1937
are not available - all you can get is a copy of the decree absolute ( through the court service)
