Kathleen Horne of Shipley, in 1927 became a surgeon
« on: Wednesday 09 April 25 15:36 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information about Kathleen Horne (1902-1990), daughter of Joseph Horne and Annie (Pullan) Horne.  Family were Grocers with Horne Brothers.  I am intrigued as she was a MRCS (Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons) which is a postgraduate qualification for surgeons in the UK and Ireland. Also she was LRCP (Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians) was historically part of a conjoint diploma with the MRCS, now defunct, for general practitioners.

I see that in 1939 she practised as a "medical practitioner" at Farnley Hall in Otley.  It has been noted that it was used as a Maternity Hospital during WW!!.

There are a few newspaper items from the 1940s and 1950s which refer to a Dr Kathleen Horne being a member of–then president of–the Bradford branch of the British Federation of Soroptimists Clubs.

7 March 1956: Bradford Observer

There is a photograph of Dr K Horne attending the annual dinner of the Royal College of Midwives (Bradford branch) held at the Victoria Hotel.
