Horne Bros. of Commercial Street in Shipley
« on: Wednesday 09 April 25 15:16 BST (UK) »
Over 10 years ago I posted this request - My great grandfather Uriah Horne was in the Horne. Bros. grocers business with his brothers Joseph and Albert.  The address is listed as both 11 Commercial Street and Wainman Street, Shipley. and later as 3 Commercial Street.  In early 1900 he left the business (I believe it was not a good parting), became an auctioneer and sadly died of a heart attack at the Shipley train station in 1904.  I am looking for pictures of Horne Brothers in Shipley, or any information.  I have references to Horne Brothers having some other locations and am interested if anyone else knows anything about the stores.  In my grandfathers death, Ronald Horne,  in Eldwick in 1949 there is also a reference from people there representing Horne Brothers.

Before this announcement all of the newspaper items that I have seen, starting in 1881, place them at  25 Stonehall Road, Eccleshill.

19 September 1885: Shipley Times and Express

I was going to post an image, but I can’t since this is a lookup request. The announcement is from 11 Commercial Street, Shipley to the inhabitants of Shipley, Saltaire & District, and saying that they have purchased the business of the late T Murgatroyd.
