David Lucas born Risbridge area poss L1ttle thurlow Dec qtr 1853

Hi

I am having trouble tracing David Lucas who is shown on the FreeBMD site as born Risbridge area Dec qtr 1853. All the Census records show he was born in Little Thurlow but I cannot find him with his parents, these parish records do not appear to be online can anyone help me please to find his baptism or his parents. I think they may be John Lucas and Sophy Simmonds, but I cant prove it.

What census do you have him on?  If he married the certificate should confirm the father.

Did John and Sophy have other children with them on census?  Maybe David was with grandparents or other relatives as a child.

Is he with brother Frederick in 1881? 

Tracing him back might help confirm parents etc

David's birth was registered in the Risbridge Registration District.
This district is formed of some 27 Civil Parishes; one of which is Little Thurlow.

Could he be the 7 year old transcribed as Irwin in 1861?  Family under Lakis. 

If the birth for Frederick Lucas has the same mothers maiden name then that was his brother.

Just an observation, John Lucas in 1851 census is a widower aged 26-occ-millers man, born Little Thurlow.

1st marriage to Eliza Burton in 1847 Risbridge.

Many thanks for the amazing information on David Lucas and his parents Henry Lucas and Hesther Smith, I can now work back and look for the birth of Henry Lucas @1827 in Little Thurlow
