Michael Britt Born 1807
« on: Friday 04 April 25 21:16 BST (UK) »
My great great grandfather Michael Britt was born in Ballingarry, Limerick, Ireland in 1807. He was married to Clen  Cocknne and they immigrated to the united states in 1829 where they settled in Philadephia, Pennsylvania.
The family name has passed down the generations and I've never met any other Britts that I was related to apart from immediate family. My grandfather, Edmund Britt died when my father was around 3 years old in 1922, so my great grandparents were unknown to us.
Just wondering if there are any Britts thereabouts in Ballingarry or the area. Thinking of taking holiday to Ireland and likely would pass through Limerick just to visit Ballingarry.
thanks for any info

Hi Robert

I notice the surname Britt being plentiful in Dublin, but also in nearby County Cork.

What religion were your ancestors?

Kind regards

Thank you for the reply. I am unsure what religion they were. My father was Episcopalian, but I believe that came from his maternal line. If I would guess I would think they were Catholic.
