Rashida Jones WDYTYA
« on: Wednesday 02 April 25 21:40 BST (UK) »
For some reason the American WDYTYA has appeared on my iplayer recommendations, so I have been working my way through them. Disappointingly no Scottish content, however. Just watched Rashida Jones daughter of Quincy Jones and Peggy Lipton. Her grandmother although born in Dublin went to America from Glasgow and was staying at 89 Oxford Street, Glasgow. On the passenger list they showed I noticed the names next to her grandmother and great aunt. So thought I would share:

Sarah Bellesen from Cambuslang
Robert and Jeanie Russell from 1b Hozier Street, Coatbridge
William and Gwendoline Brown from 18 Melville Street, Falkirk
Catherine and Mary Shand from Maryhill, Glasgow
James and Mary Wallace from 22 Seamore Street, Glasgow

It's appeared on mine too.

Seems to now be produced by Lisa Kudrow who did her own episode. I'm sure Sarah Jessica Parker was already done on WDYTYA in the UK.

I'm sure they also showed at least one marriage certificate from the Gorbals in the Rashida Jones episode but didn't mention it was a Scottish certificate. I also thought that perhaps her mother had a connection to the Lipton family in the UK but again nothing was mentioned. I suppose they are only about half an hour long.

I think Lisa Kudrow has always had the rights to WDYTYA are in the USA. I have been enjoying the US one’s learning more detail about American history. I am guessing these are abridged versions of the episodes.
