100% signals.  he is likely to be the Signal Platoon Sgt.

The recruiters badge was more ornate and had a crown above the flags.

His Records show he was Transferred into 2nd Btn Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in 1910 who were the only  Btn to have  had a Black Triangle Shoulder Patch
His Records show he missed a Signalling Practice Session in Aldershot 23 May 1912 because of Drunkeness
He went to India 1912 for 2 years
1914 he was Transferred to the 1st Btn and in 1915 sent to Gallipoli then France - wounded July 1917 became Cpl then Lance  Sgt in 26 Oct 1917 in the 3rd Btn in Londonderry then Paid Sgt from 15 April 1918 till his Field Court Martial in May 1918 then reduced in Rank to Lance Corporal then  Cpl in September 1918 Discharged February 1919 on Silver War Badge
The Family believe the Photo is Him as 6th Btn Recruitment Sgt in April 1918
But the Records suggest it is Not him but someone else he knew.

The shoulder patch would date the photo to 1916-19 as the were not worn before then so if he was not in the 2nd bn then and you are correct about only them wearing it, then it is not him.  The recruiter badge was a peacetime thing worn on red tunics so the flags are signallers as suggested.
