WILFRED BATES WW1 1918
« on: Saturday 29 March 25 17:42 GMT (UK) »
WILFRED  BATES died on 28 Aug 1918 after serving with 4th Batt Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Aged 26, he was the husband of Emily Bates, 8 Smithy Street, Westhoughton. His Pension Card includes the name of a child, John Stringfellow, born in 1906, (If these dates are correct it may be that John Stringfellow was a step-son?)
Wilfred Bates is entitled to have his resting place designated as a War Grave but that requires proof of burial.
Does anyone out there know Where Wilfred Bates is buried?

Doesn't help but - Wilfred Bates marriage registered 1912 Wigan -  Emily Stringfellow -

There were a few Wigan births for John Stringfellow

Thank you, both. According to Wilfred Bates' Pension Card, John Stringfellow was born on 6 Dec 1906.  Wilfred married Emily Stringfellow in 1912 - so presumably John was the child of a previous marriage/ relationship.
Wilfred most likely buried in or around Westhoughton.  Any other clues still very welcome,
