Help with finding my great-grandmother's parents please

Hi, I hope I can get some help here. I recently discovered that the line beyond one of my great-grandmothers was wrong and now having deleted the line I'm trying to find my correct ancestors. I have the following information.

Edith May Miles [my great-grandmother]
B:24 Apr 1890 Bacton, Suffolk, England (location listed on 1921 census)
D:26 May 1959 All Saints Hospital, Chatham, Kent, England

Ernest William Thomas Miles [my grandfather]
B:29 Mar 1920 Bexley, Kent, England
D:09 Jun 2009 Fareham, Hampshire, England

According to the 1921 census Sarah Miles is listed as her mother, aged 75 and 9 months, with a Stowmarket as the place of birth.

Through the GRO index I have what I believe is Edith's birth which shows her mother's maiden name was Barnard.

However, I've not been able to find a marriage for a Sarah Barnard to a Miles, and therefore Edith's father, nor a birth for Sarah Barnard, so have hit a brick wall.

Any help with tracing Edith's ancestors would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Sarah Miles could have been married before and widowed so any second marriage wouldn't be as Sarah Barnard.

Can you find Edith with Sarah on any other census?

Now there is a bit of a gap there between the two youngest but can check the birth registrations for the other children to see if they have Barnard

Yes Arthur born 1881 and George born 1883 have Barnard as does Frederick born 1879

Only thing is she is just Edith not Edith May - which record do you have that says Edith May please?

Hi Milliepede, thank you so much, that's so helpful. And looking back at my records, I think the "May" as the middle name was an error from records linked to the wrong line where there was another Edith May Miles, so I think that's probably not part of her name after all.

In 1861 Sarah 16 is out of the home as a servant

Not seeing a marriage for Henry & Louisa but in 1841 they are together with 1 year old Eliza
