LGOC and 1891 census
« on: Saturday 29 March 25 14:29 GMT (UK) »

I want to check the Holloway depot for the LGOC on the 1891 census and wondered if there is a simple/effective way to pinpoint which enumeration district it's in - there are more than 50 so a shortcut would be useful.

Thank you.

The United Kingdom Census of 1891 recorded the people residing in every household on the night of 5/6 April 1891.

What are you hoping to find?

What is LGOC?

Yes, I know.  It's a bus company and I've found it now (a bit of luck) so thank you.

Thank you.

I have someone missing from the 1891 census, a single man, and know he worked at that depot so wondered if he was on their census listing.  He isn't so he's still missing  ;D

What was his name?  Maybe someone will get lucky and locate him for you.

I have posted this before so didn't want to start a search but if anyone has a spare ten minutes - John Lee, born c1864 in Isleworth.  He's a single man so could be lodging.

There's a John Lee, born Isleworth, Omnibus driver on the 1901 Census at Islington - wife Caroline and 2 children, both born before 1891. Address is Durham Road, Islington.

Is this "your" John Lee? If so, and you consider him single in 1891, did he marry into a ready made family?
