Finding a Second Name

Is the any way of finding a second name without buying the certificate?
The birth was in 1936, so no names as the person could still be alive.
On FreeBMD it gives the name and initial. Births on the GRO, which would give the second name, are not listed between 1934 and 1984.

Which Reg district ? Some registrars have a search facility on their websites which may give middle names.

Have you tried the 1939 register?

Are they listed or still redacted.

1939 still redacted.
The mother who had a distinctive name died 1993 in Shropshire.

Added: I have looked on the Glamorgan Archives website and it does not look like a search is possible. I will contact them, but if their usual costs apply, I will not take it further.

If the person married it might be on the marriage certificate or registration.

Could there have been a birth announcement in the local paper? It's worth looking.

Was there probate for the mother? It is usual to give full names for children who are mentioned in a will.

There is a probate listed . Not exceeding £125,000. Family Search says she died in Shropshire. Probate says she died in Pontardawe and the 1939 address. I will buy the probate and the marriage certificate. It is the husband I am searching with DNA links, so the daughter is also of interest. He died young and there is only one daughter.
