I was looking for barracks in Gib in the Med. The problem arose when using "barracks" and "gibraltar" in an "all words" search!

I'm going to take inspiration from your newspaper find and see if I can find anything from March of 1938 that mentions The King's Regiment and Gibralter.

I've checked the newspapers for the period. Plenty of mention of the King's Reg in Gib - but not linked to a barracks.

Hope you don't find him at Windmill Hill - that's the Detention Barracks.

I've not found the barracks but I now know the name of the troopship that carried my grandad. I've also learnt that they had bad weather! I hope the sea wasn't too rough!

I have found that my grandad was a little naughty on Gib. He was caught gambling in the dining hall and confined to barracks for 7 days. I can feel his cheeky smile and twinkling eyes as I discover his mischief
