Amendment on 1939 register?
« on: Wednesday 26 March 25 10:43 GMT (UK) »
I have a Marcia G M Travis (born 1912, Warlingham, Surrey, died 2002 Bromley, Kent) who married James Edward Thomas in 1935, Southampton, England. On the 1939 register, they are living in Winchester, Hampshire. James is a Police Officer and Marcia is unpaid domestic. There is one other living with them who does not appear to be a relation.

The register has transcribed her name as Marcia G M Thomas (Newsom) as seen in the green pen on the document attached. Marcia's mother's maiden name is (Thorp) and matched with the birth register. Any suggestions for this amendment of Newsom? I also do not believe they had any children and cannot find James Edward Thomas' birth date. Thanks in advance for any help.

The 1939 Register was later used and amended by the NHS, until 1991.
So the entry for Marcia shows a later name change - probably a marriage?

Ah okay thanks, I'll go back and have a look at my death date if that's causing the problem.

Can't find James Edward Thomas birth date? It's there on the register.

I've only 6 September 1908, for James from the 1939 register.

I don't have anything to suggest where he was born unfortunately, only the date of birth on 1939 register & that they married in 1935, Southampton.
