Searching for William Morris and Ann Rowson marriage record
« on: Wednesday 26 March 25 10:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Can anyone help me locate a William Morris who states he was born in Asterley, Shropshire in 1858 on the 1901 census (but Liverpool, Lancashire on the 1891 census!).
He married an Ann Rowson (born in Bishops's Castle in 1858) but I cannot find a record of his birth, her birth or their marriage definitively!
They moved to Liverpool, Lancashire and may have married there instead of Shropshire possibly....
The only marriage I can find between a William Morris and a lady whose surname is Rowson is one in 1881 but she is called Alice Ann Rowson, not just Ann Rowson so I don't feel it's the right one....

Is anyone else researching this William Morris or Ann Rowson and can shed any light/evidence on this please?
Thanks

There was a William Morris born Clun, 1859 & an Ann Rowson born Clun 1858

The Ann born in Clun is daughter of William Rowson & Amelia Francis, married 1850, Shrewsbury.

The family are on 1871 census in Montgomeryshire

Marriage was at Stanley on Christmas Day. Parish register is on FamilySearch.
Both full age, residence Tue Brook. William a Laborer. Both marked. Fathers John Morris and William Rowson, Laborers

Indexed on Lancs BMD as William Morris married William Rowson!

Thanks everyone but if someone was baptised as Ann Rowson why would they call themselves Alice Ann Rowson upon marriage but then not at anytime afterwards (just Ann Morris once married). It just doesn't quite add up to me. I appreciate your input though.

I think they are the same person one is on page 533 the other on 534. March quarter. A transcription mistake.

There is only one on FreeBMD  ref page 533.

It could be she was supposed to be Alice Ann Rowson, her sister on the census is Maria H in 1871 yet she was registered as Helen 1870 and baptised as Helen.

Could I ask Kloumann how do you know that "The Ann born in Clun is daughter of William Rowson & Amelia Francis, married 1850, Shrewsbury." please?
The reference for that birth is 6a 533 but the record itself just states that an Ann Rowson was born in Clun in the first quarter of 1858 (no parents names mentioned).....
Thanks :-)
