Gottfried Wyss Switzerland
« on: Tuesday 25 March 25 01:37 GMT (UK) »
Been trying to find where Gottfried Wyss comes from.
Family information:
He was born September 12, 1884. He married Margaret (Margrith?) Fluckinger/Aeschbacher/Gerber on 09 October 1926, in Uzwil, Sankt Gallen, Switzerland. She is actually from the city Bern b. 17 April 1896. (Surname is complicated: Father's surname is Fluckinger, mother's maiden name is Gerber, and mother's first husband's surname is Aeschbacher. As far as I know, she has taken these surnames before.)

They immigrate to Canada between 1926-1927 and have children in Saskatchewan. Please note many of them are still alive.

Sadly I do not know where in Switzerland he lived, or if he came from Germany.

There's this chap from Riggisberg, Bern. Born 1884, emigrated via Antwerp in March 1927 on the Pennland, heading for Winnipeg, via Halifax

Hi
There is also a tree on Ancestry with family photos
https://www.ancestrylibraryedition.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/47190936/person/6714870305/facts
Obviously not checked it out but they have photos of parents and him so you should be able to tell if he is yours.

I'm not sure. None of their children or grandchildren are religious, on my side at least. The cemetery they are buried in isn't a religious one, and was instead started by my older family and friends, as the main cemetery in the town nearby wouldn't let them be buried there, as they weren't catholic.

Because of this I'm not sure if Gottfried and Margretta wanted to be buried there, or if they weren't religious at all in Canada. If I would guess, I would say Catholic or Romanian Orthodox, as the town nearby is mainly that.
