Issue with Editing Search information on Ancestry
« on: Monday 24 March 25 11:57 GMT (UK) »
I have a Pc with Windows 10 and Edge. When I go to the home page on Ancestry and do a search I get the results I want but when I try to edit the search using the (pencil) Edit search, for example to change a maiden name to a married name, it won't let me change anything. i can input a couple of letters then it reverts to what was originally input. My only option is to create a new search from scratch, which is most annoying.
Does anyone know if it's likely to be my PC or whether it's an Ancestry fault.
Hoping someone knows
Thanks

Not just you! I've encountered the same problem in the last couple of days. Hopefully Ancestry will sort out the glitch soon.

Had similar problems for several months on both MAC and iPad - bet Ancestry say it isn’t them!

Same here. If you refresh the page, it will be OK, and you can change it.

If the form itself changes, it will take you to the database you last had a look at!

I'm on Win 11, on Firefox

I have had it do that intermittently for a while. However I have found that if you are trying to fill in an empty box it is more likely to freeze at only a few letters. Whereas if you fill in the new name in front of the old name and then delete the bit you don't want it is more likely to work. (Windows 10 with Firefox )
I hope that helps.

Thanks everyone. I've tried all your ideas and some work but not all the time. It is too frustrating for words. AS the problems seem be occur across all platforms I think the fault must lie with Ancestry. I'll try and raise it as an issue but I won't hold my breath. I've raised things with Ancestry before and not received a reply.
Thanks again everyone ???

Yes its's been weird for a while. The two letters and then no more search is annoying, but even worse for me is when I enter a location and then try to select one of the ones offered it returns me to the previously entered information (names, dates, locations, etc). I find that the only way to fix it is to go back in, enter the names and dates, remove the current location, perform the search I don't want with a blank location and then go in again and enter the locatioon into the now blank space. Then it works. Until the next time.

It's been driving me mad for several weeks, but I doubt it will ever get fixed.

Was the third letter a lower case 'r'?
