prisoners change of name
« on: Saturday 22 March 25 11:30 GMT (UK) »
apologies to everyone....serious. illness and deaths in family.
ive got someone who must be dead by now, unless he's superman.
I cant find a death, and I know he did a fair stretch  in prison, so I was wondering if he changed his name...in say the 1990s

I don't want to name him because his. son has suffered enough.

can I find this out anywhere

thanks

Change of names is an assumption so use what info you actually know first.  Do you know his full birthdate?

Death registrations to 2007 with birthdate (from 1969) are on Ancestry so search for his birth name & compare birthdate

Deaths from 2007-2023 are on GRO online but only show birthyear

Did his son not have contact with him?   Did he have a common surname?

Depending on the nature of his crime - he may not have changed his name

Remember BMDs are only England and Wales, could he have gone to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Channel Isles?
