Finding a family member
« on: Friday 21 March 25 07:36 GMT (UK) »
Hi Can anybody help please.

Im trying to trace a Thomas Coghlan all i have is this he was born 2nd Dec 1889 Belfast Ireland, he then married a Hilda Robertson on 5 july 1919. I have found his army record he joined in 1906 age 18.

Would love any help to find out parents & if he had any brothers or sisters.

Thanks

Thomas,Hilda,1 named child and 3 redacted children appear on 1939 war register. Hilda remarried in 1964, so either Thomas has died or they parted/divorced

Do you have his marriage details- his father would be named on the record.

I see an air Force record - is that it?
You mention an army record.
Does it show any details of his joining up in 1906?  Where he enlisted?

You would be best to buy the marriage certificate

The record I have seen at FindMyPast is for his later RFC/RAF service and has his wife as next of kin. Buried on the second page is the fact that he served in France 1914-1917 (he joined the army in 1906) and was recipient of the 1914 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal so there may be another record somewhere.

Added: also the record has him as Roman Catholic, so surely there must be a baptism record?
