Atholl Brigade '45 Jacobite Rising
« on: Monday 17 March 25 21:53 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone claiming descent from either Donald Stewart of Dalvorest or Patrick Stewart of Easter Invervack?

In the book 'No Quarter Given' - The muster roll of Prince Charles Edward Stuart's army, 1745-46, David Stewart of Balvorest is listed as a captain in the Atholl Brigade.  This should be Capt. Donald Stewart of Dalvorest (Slochd Dail Mhoraisd in Glentilt). The exhibition centre at Culloden was displaying 'the white knife of Dail Mhoraisd' at one time. He was married to Beatrice / Beatrix / Beattie / Betty Stewart. Children seem to include Janet, Beatrix, Grissel and Marjory.

In the same book Patrick Stewart of Easter Invervack is listed as a captain in the Atholl Brigade, He was taken prisoner and was pardoned on condition that he enlisted in the Hanovarian army.  It is uncertain whether he married or had any children.
