Cause of invalidity? 1917

Hello,
Can anyone tell me the cause of this man being invalided out of active service in WW1 please? I have included one wide screenshot so you can compare the handwriting etc. It's just the cause of invalidity I need please.

Just reading Frank Muir s autobiography. He had this, probably from drinking unpasteurised milk and required surgery. This experience inspired the following quip

Years later during a panel game another participant accused him of being diabolical. “No,” Frank corrected him, “I am monobolical.”
