What you did not tell us to start with is that the John baptised  25th January 1818 at Hockworthy had parents William and Sarah.  :-\

ADDED John died age 6 months

I was confused too  ;D

I see that Mary Ann died age 14.   I can't see a burial for Sarah the mother of John and Mary Ann but can see your reasoning for it to be the same William that then married Susanna.

Same here, could not find the burial for Sarah Darby (Crandon) and still no luck with the birth of Sarah Darby around 1825

The search goes on :D

 ;D  ;D

Maybe young Sarah was not baptised.  If her mother died shortly after she was born then it could just have been missed.

Very true, and a reminder of how much life was harder back then for our ancestors

They certainly did have it hard then.

It would be nice to find a baptism for Sarah though.  I wonder what the connection to Upottery was.
