Is 1871 when he died or when he was born?
Have you checked freebmd?
What is the last census you have him on?

Do you mean that you know he died in 1871 in Gainsborough? Or is that when he was born?

FreeBMD is not showing anything in 1871, as pointed out by CaroleW. There is a birth in 1867, and a possible corresponding death in 1868 in Spalding Registration District.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids. They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Tomm has sent me a pm - he is helping a friend.
WFL was b 1787 - doesn't know where. died 1871 Lincolnshire - that's all he has
There is no 1851 or 1861 entry matching that birthyear
Tomm - please ask your friend for some details re who WFL married. Has he looked for him on a census to establish his birthplace?
Where has he got the info from that he died Lincs 1871?
