Most interesting, thank you.....so in 1936 Patricia was an only child.........the person I am looking for was supposedly born in 1934.....I'm either on the wrong track, or she was adopted......

A copy of Vincents will is only £1.50  :).   It may give a clue.

Is there any mention of her marriage in the newspapers

Marriage certificate?  Or would you assume that Vincent Swallow would be named as the father on there and be no further forward  :-\

Not sure about the will, but when he died in 1974, Vincent was living in a small hamlet on the other side of Grantham to where he and Nellie used to live......interestingly the JP and his wife lived in the same place.......

Del80, I have from your info worked out who the "daughter" is. Whilst she may not have had the Swallow surname at birth are you willing to share a date of birth. Any findings can be sent to you by a pm.

I would rather not name her, as she has only recently died.....

Yes, very recently.
The marriage was written up in the local newspaper.

Just an update....someone with local knowledge, and who knew the family, assures me that the lady in question was "adopted from within the family".....Thanks to all that replied, but best left there for now I think.....
