WWII Service Records
« on: Thursday 13 March 25 20:13 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone else having difficulty in obtaining WWII service records from the National Archives? I applied for my father’s records, supplying his service number and copy of his death certificate, some time ago, but apart from receiving emails saying that they are dealing with a backlog and not to contact them, I am still waiting. As my initial request was in November 2023 I decided to ask for an internal review. I now have an email which states that they have a backlog and they will contact me in due course!
I know that they have actually located the records as they have quoted the document reference in their emails.
I am at a loss as to what to do next. I’m 76-years-old and at this rate of progress I’ll be lucky to see anything from them before my own demise!

I had the same. The MOD told me they were slowly transferring data to the NA. But so far, I was unable to find my father's records. It's a minefield.
