Booker keeper? 1939 Reg
« on: Wednesday 12 March 25 14:05 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I disagree with Ancestry's transcription. They say "Fruit Cooker's Lead Cook keeper".
I say "Fruit broker's Lead book keeper".

What are your thoughts? Who is right? Or do you have a different view?

For context, he was 29 years old and living in Southampton. Looks like his brother (3 lines down) was a wholesale grocer's asst.

I read it as head book keeper rather than lead book keeper

NB seems like its been a good while since Ancestry updated the 1939 register - if you have access to FindMyPast elsewhere (e.g. your local library) all 8 people in that household are UN redacted per the 'born over 100 years ago' rule. (we can't post the details in here as its a subscription site)
