Hello and a warm welcome to RootsChat.

I agree with the poster on your other thread that the surname of Catherine/Kathleen is probably
Faughnan or something close to that.

Here is the marriage of James and Catherine. This is the Registrar’s copy. Image available on ancestry on 2 consecutive pages.

It provides James’ mothers maiden name for you.

James Thompson
Age 34
Residence when married North Bay
Place of birth Ireland
Bachelor
Occupation Hotel Keeper
Names of parents Henry Thompson and Mary Ann Lawson
To
Catherine Faughner
Age 23
Residence when married Toronto
Place of birth Toronto
Spinster
Names of parents Bernard Faughner and Catherine Tierney
Witnesses (?) Moffit of North Bay and Jessie Rafferty of Toronto
On 10 Oct 1904 at Toronto
By Licence
Married by J J McCann
Religious designation for both is RC
Date of registration 13 Oct 1904

On the subject of children for Gordon…

Canada has strict privacy laws and most births are protected for 100 years or more. One would need to look for newspaper notices of births or parents deaths, or other means to learn about children.

You now have Harry’s death and other info on your other thread.

I am going to link your other thread here.

Thanks to all of your help everyone ive managed to go up the Faughnan/Tierney Line, i i have a little working document on all their stories that im putting together so i can thank you all enough ,

I am still massivly stuck at Harry Thompson but thinking i may need to post on an india/scottish group for some help with that as i know james emigrated to canada in 1882 and is listed on multiple records as being born in india albeit irish descent  but i just cant find anything on that

“Multiple records”?
Just the two censuses?

Can you please list ALL the ones you have?

Also, don’t make yet another thread and results in duplicate findings. It just confuses the issue. 2 is more than enough.

Yes, please don’t start another thread about Harry. Just maybe refresh us here about Harry and what you are still looking for? We will give it our best effort.

I've have a document that ive popped everything on , if you want me to email it over :) as it wouldnt upload on here , hoping the link to my tree works :)

https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/tree/203042705/family?cfpid=192657100108&fpid=192657329655&usePUBJs=true

i guess just try to find out anything about harry so 5th and 4th generation on the thompson line , i need to update their information

Harry Thompson (Great Great Grandad) was born in Scotland although not sure how valid this is  (DOB unknown and no further details at thit time, he would have gone to india at some point if we think his son james was born there, likely correlated with the first world war

According to James records his mother is called Mary (Great Great Grandmother) and she was born in Scotland, however according to his death certificate her surname was unknown, her father was  born in Ireland and her mother in scotland, other notes ive seen indicate her name to be mary ann lawson which would make sense due to the use of lawson in middle names etc after that

The tree is accessible. Thank you. I think there might be a small error? I’ll get back to you when I study the tree in more detail.

Okey dokey.

The issue in the tree seems to be with the parents of James 1864-1925 who married Catherine Faughnan in 1904. The marriage record indicates his parents are Henry Thompson and Mary Ann Lawson (see back to reply number one). The parents for Catherine are fine.
