Trafalgar Farm House, Temple Guiting
« on: Sunday 09 March 25 09:28 GMT (UK) »
On the 1921 census A Mr Peachy the farm estate manager is living here with his wife and family. Also six women visitors in their fifties, single and married. As one is on my family tree I am interested to know was the farm house a retreat or what?
Thanking you.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Gloucestershire Echo, 25 Sep 1920

Carries an article of a French lady staying at the farm from Jun 11th without registering under the Aliens Act.

Was the farm diversifying offering holidays/long stay?

I can see a few newspaper articles mentioning Trafalgar Farm. One mentions a "farm pupil". Not sure what this means?

Maybe they were just having a house party that night? Sad accident in Nov 1921 when the PEACHEY daughter (Susie Phyllis) died.

A nice article about the farm in 1949 with lots of photos of livestock. No mention of anything other than farming.

That is very sad reading.

A diverse group of women, including a husband of one too.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

A farm pupil, I guess is someone learning about farming.

The visitors came from, Birmingham, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Devon and Cheltenham.
Maybe it was a retreat for women, though there was a married couple visiting.
