It's possible that young Michael Brew wasn't a stepson as we know today but a nephew of Mary's late husband.

A possibility given that his age in 1911 was 31

There is this marriage of a Michael Brew stone cutter father Michael a tailor, dead. It’s in Kerry but lot of things matching.

Could Mary have been pregnant when her husband was killed.

Great find Sinann definitely Michael Brew long history of Stonecutters in his mothers family.A question for you I have been searching for Michaels mother Mary Lynch baptism circa 1857 probably in parish of Kilmurry/Bandon/Ovens with no result. Her father was Michael Lynch a tailor Scart died 2nd January 1879 age 68yrs married John Lynch present I am presuming he was his son he is on 1901 census in Scart (Moviddy) Single & has a Katie Ware Niece in household (Mary Lynch married Henry Ware/Weir after Michael died) Any help would be appreciated as I cannot find a marriage either for Michael Lynch.  :)

Scart Lower is the townland and Moviddy is the D.E.D.

John Lynch in 1911-

No need to keep quoting whole reply- sometimes just makes it more confusing to read through such a long quoted post.  ;)
